Teach A song In 5 Minutes

The directed listening method really works! Here is what one primary music leader wrote about it:

“I wanted to let you know that I was able to teach the chorus and two verses of, “If I Were There”, in our Primary singing time last week using the directed listening method. The children had never heard the song before, but I had never heard them sing so well – especially with a brand new song! Even the littlest children were singing the words!”

I love hearing success stories like this! It’s reverent, it’s fast, it’s efficient, and it’s effective. If you search my name along with directed listening, you should find several posts about how to do directed listening. It’s a great addition to your many methods and activities that you use for teaching music!

Generally I suggest teaching one verse at a time, or just the chorus, but apparently this talented music leader was able to do much more!

Please feel free to pm me if you have questions! I am happy to help you learn how to do this. I can teach a song, often with actions, in about 5 minutes, and it’s memorized at the same time.
